Site 1 is the historical and operational heart of UFS. Founded as the headquarters of Fratelli Doglietto in 1947, the plant has undergone several technological evolutions to become one of the main production hubs for the manufacture of taps.
Role in the production cycle
Site 1 receives from Site 3 the hardened semi-finished products, already checked for their geometrical and metallographic characteristics. An average stock of over 250,000 semi-finished products ensures continuity for the production lines and allows reduced delivery times.
Processes carried out at Site 1
The plant hosts the main tap machining stages, including:
- grinding with 50 CNC production units
- washing and polishing
- drilling
- marking
- painting
- labelling
These activities cover the entire finishing cycle, ensuring precision, repeatability and consistent quality.
Testing and metrology laboratory
Site 1 houses metrology laboratory B, with a testing room dedicated to functional verification and thread accuracy.
Everything that has been produced is tested; in the event of anomalies or imperfections, the tool is returned to the design office, reproduced and tested again.
Only when the tool is perfect is it validated.
Production capacity
The lines operate on two shifts, with a capacity able to meet the demand for both standard and special products. The finished goods warehouse contains an average stock of over 500,000 tools, with diameters ranging from 2 mm up to 3 inches.
Planning and automation
Site 1 uses an I4.0-certified planning system that:
- manages and schedules all production orders
- optimizes production batches
- improves the availability of standard products
- ensures a high level of service also for special products
Offices located at Site 1
In addition to production, the site hosts several strategic functions:
- technical office
- planning
- logistics
- administration
- purchasing
- company management
- HR office
People and company culture
Site 1 is also the center of UFS corporate life. The relationship with personnel is considered a fundamental value: collaboration, respect and a sense of belonging characterize the working environment and contribute to the quality of the final product.
