ALUMINIUM, COPPER AND IRON
The UFS technical brochure is dedicated to families of Threading Taps for Aluminium, Copper and Iron (AL-CU-FE), designed to ensure high performance in the tapping of light alloys, mild steels and copper alloys.
A practical tool that brings together the most efficient threading tap solutions for soft or medium-hard materials, where cutting speed, chip evacuation, thread finish and tool life are essential. The range includes aluminium taps, copper taps and iron taps, available for through holes and blind holes, with specific geometries such as spiral flute taps, straight flute taps and roll taps.
Solutions with AZ alternating threads and optimized chamfer designs are included to improve lubrication, reduce friction and enhance thread quality, even in long-chipping materials.
The portfolio features both cutting taps and roll taps (P-ROLL), available in the LINE series, reliable and cost-effective for standard industrial applications, and the TOP series, with advanced surface treatments and PVD coatings for maximum performance and extended tool life.
Thanks to the QR codes included in the technical tables, users can quickly access the UFS B2B portal to check product availability, consult detailed technical data and identify alternative solutions.
A resource developed for professionals seeking precision, efficiency and innovation in the tapping of non-ferrous and ferrous metals, supported by the full expertise of UFS in the field of threading tools.
E20/E21 AZ • E20/E21 AZ-V
Straight flute taps with interrupted thread, for tapping materials such as magnetic soft iron, copper, and light aluminium alloys. The interrupted thread (AZ) eliminates the risk of chips welding to the thread flanks and breaking; it also reduces friction and allows for better lubrication and more space for chip passage. For blind and through holes up to 1,5xD.
E24/E25 AZ
Spiral point taps for through holes and AZ interrupted threads, for specific applications on aluminium alloys with Si<0,5%, iron, and copper. For machining with thread depths up to 3xD. The AZ interrupted thread reduced the risk of chips welding to the thread flanks and breakage of the taps or thread itself. It also reduces friction and allows for better lubrication, leaving more space for chip passage.
E40/E41 AZ
Taps with 15° helical flutes for blind holes up to 1.5xD. The combination of the helix and the alternating thread (AZ) promotes chip breaking and prevents the “bird nesting” on materials such as magnetic soft iron, light aluminium alloys, and copper.
E24/E25 AL
Spiral point taps for through holes, for applications on aluminium alloys with Si<0.5%, iron, and copper. Thread depths up to 3xD. Special geometry for machining long-chipping materials; reduced number of cuts and wider flutes for improved chip evacuation.
E70/E71 AL
Spiral flutes taps 45° with a reduced number of flutes for blind holes up to 3xD deep. The wide flutes and high helix angle, ensure effective chip removal when threading materials such as light aluminium alloy, iron, and copper alloys.
E24/E25 AL-TXC
Spiral point taps for through holes, thread depths up to 3xD. Suitable for light aluminium alloys with Si<0.5%, iron, and copper. Special geometry for machining long-chipping materials; reduced number of flutes and wider grooves for better chip evacuation.

P2SC T
Thread rolling taps without lubrication grooves, tolerances 6HX, for blind and through holes. Based on the principle of plastic deformation, they produce no chips and generate a very strong thread. Recommended low thickness sheet metal, soft materials with high deformation, and light aluminium and copper alloys. In general, these taps are suitable for materials with a tensile strength Rm < 850 N/mm² and a minimum elongation coefficient of 10%. The torque is 1.5–2 times higher than that of metal cutting taps.
P3SC T
Like the previous P2SC but with 6GX tolerance, therefore for applications where subsequent galvanizing treatment is expected, or similar, which require a higher tolerance than 6HX.
P2CC T
Roll taps with coolant grooves for blind and through holes, tolerances 6HX, 2BX, ISO22X. Based on the principle of plastic deformation, they do not produce chips and create highly durable threads. Recommended for steel, stainless steel, aluminium alloys with Si content <10%, and copper. Generally suitable for medium-strength materials, with an elongation coefficient above 10% and a tensile strength Rm <850 N/mm². The required torque is 1.5–2 times higher compared to cutting taps. The coolant grooves facilitate lubricant flow, ensuring improved lubrication and heat dissipation.
P3CC T
Like the previous P2CC but with 6GX tolerance, therefore for applications where subsequent galvanizing treatment is expected, or similar, which require a higher tolerance than 6HX.
P2CC AHI • P2CC LH-T
Roll taps with coolant grooves for blind and through holes, tolerance 6HX. Based on the principle of plastic deformation, they do not produce chips and generate highly durable threads. Recommended for steel, stainless steel, aluminum alloys with Si content < 10%, and copper. Generally suitable for medium-strength materials with an elongation coefficient above 10% and tensile strength Rm < 850 N/mm². The required torque is 1.5–2 times higher compared to cutting taps. The coolant grooves facilitate lubricant flow, ensuring improved lubrication and heat dissipation. Available with next-generation AHI coating and also in left-hand thread (LH) versions.
