TITANIUM
The UFS technical brochure is dedicated to families of taps for titanium and titanium alloys, designed to ensure precision, reliability and process control in the tapping of high-strength, low thermal conductivity materials, typical of aeronautical applications.
A practical tool that brings together the most high-performing solutions for titanium threading, where chip evacuation, process stability and extended tool life are key factors. The range includes 15° left-hand helix taps for through holes (up to 3xD) and 15° right-hand helix taps for blind holes, also available with J profile (general use in industrial applications) and MJ profile (developed for aeronautical and aerospace applications), featuring a rounded outer diameter to reduce stress concentration and improve thread reliability.
Manufactured in PM3 sintered steel with high-hardness TiCN coating, these threading tools are suitable for machining TiAl6V4 (Grade 5) and other titanium alloys up to 1400 N/mm², ensuring high torsional strength, effective chip control and long tool life even in the most demanding CNC operations.
Available in the TOP line, with advanced surface treatments and high-performance PVD coatings, they represent a professional solution for titanium tapping in both aeronautical and industrial sectors.
Thanks to the QR codes included in the technical tables, users can quickly access the UFS B2B portal to check availability, consult detailed technical data and identify alternative or complementary products.
A reliable tool for tackling titanium threading with precision, efficiency and the full technical expertise of UFS.
K52/K53 CT
Spiral flutes taps left hand 15° for through holes, PM3 sintered steel, for titanium alloys. The left-handed helix promotes chip extraction in the same direction as the tap feed. They are suitable for tapping through holes up to 3xD. TiCN coating.
K42/K43 V • K42/K43 CT
Spiral flutes taps right hand 15° for blind holes, PM3 sintered steel, for titanium alloys. The right-hand flute promotes chip removal in the opposite direction to the tap's feed. They are suitable for tapping medium-depth blind holes. Surface treatment:
steam tempering or TiCN coating.
Both tool families are also available in 4H and 3B tolerances with a "J" profile and rounded outer diameter. This rounding avoids sharp edges and is required where mechanical stresses could cause dangerous fractures in the resulting thread.
