General Purpose - Rm ≤ 850 N/mm²

The UFS technical brochure is dedicated to the range of general-purpose taps, designed to ensure reliable performance when tapping steels, stainless steels, cast irons, light alloys and non-ferrous alloys with material strength up to Rm ≤ 850 N/mm².

A practical tool that brings together the most versatile UFS solutions for industrial threading, developed to ensure machining stability, efficient chip evacuation and consistent thread quality in everyday workshop and production applications. The range includes cutting taps and roll taps, available for through holes, blind holes and combined applications, with specific geometries such as straight-flute taps, spiral-point taps, 15°, 40° and 45° spiral-flute taps, as well as versions with internal coolant to improve cooling and process reliability.

The cutting taps are available in the main DIN 371 and DIN 376 executions, with broad coverage of M, MF, UNC, UNF and GAS ISO 228 threads, making them ideal for CNC machines, machining centres and production applications on low- and medium-strength materials.

The solutions are made from high-performance steels such as HSSE, HSSP 8%Co, HSSE-PM and PM8, with dedicated finishes and coatings including BR uncoated, steam tempered, TiN, TiN-G, XP, TXC and AHI, designed to improve wear resistance, tool smoothness and service life under different tapping conditions. The range also includes P-ROLL roll taps, with or without coolant grooves, suitable for chip-free applications and for producing high-strength threads on deformable materials.

The range includes product lines dedicated to different levels of use, from the LINE series, designed for general-purpose applications with an excellent balance between performance and value, through to the PLUS and S-PLUS versions, developed for more demanding machining operations, higher productivity and improved process control.

The technical tables included in the PDF allow users to quickly identify the most suitable product according to the material being machined, hole type, thread depth, tolerance, coating, geometry and recommended cutting speed. The symbols and abbreviations shown in the brochure make the technical characteristics easier to read, turning the document into an immediate reference tool for both commercial selection and technical support in the workshop.

E24/E25 - P24/P25

E24/E25

Straight flute taps with spiral point (Form B) for through holes up to 3xD. The chip flow follows the feed direction: this eliminates the risk of clogging and breakage on long-chipping materials.

HSSE for general-purpose applications up to 850 N/mm², they are available in the following finishes: bright (BR), vaporized, TiN, and XP.

P24/P25

Straight flute taps with spiral point (Form B) for through holes up to 3xD. The chip flow follows the feed direction: this eliminates the risk of clogging and breakage on long-chipping materials.

HSSP 8%Co steel for applications up to 1000 N/mm², they are available in the following finishes: bright (BR), vaporized, and TiN-G S-plus series.

E20/E21 - E40/E41

E20/E21

Straight flute taps are the most common type for general-purpose applications and shallow threading depths, suitable for both blind and through holes. The chip evacuation direction is opposite to the tool feed direction.

E40/E41

H15° spiral flute taps for general-purpose applications, designed with a low-helix angle to optimize chip evacuation opposite to the feed direction. Ideal for blind holes up to 1.5xD in tough materials, they are also available with internal coolant and axial exit (FOR). Available finishes: uncoated (BR), vaporized, and TiN.
E60/E61 - P60/P61

E60/E61

40° spiral flute taps for general purpose applications, designed to ensure efficient chip evacuation in blind holes up to 2.5×D deep. The geometry developed by UFS prevents thread finishing oversize even when using compensation (CO) tap holders.
Made of HSSE steel with a Form C (2-3xP) chamfer, they are ideal for long-chipping materials such as low and medium strength steels up to 850 N/mm². Available in the following finishes: bright (BR), steam tempered, TiN, and XP.

P60/P61

40° spiral flute taps for general purpose applications, designed to ensure efficient chip evacuation in blind holes up to 2.5×D deep. Usage with rigid synchronized tapping is recommended. Made of HSSP steel with a Form C (2-3xP) chamfer, they are ideal for medium-strength materials up to 1000 N/mm². Available in the following finishes: bright (BR), steam tempered, and XP.
E92/E93 - E94/E95

E92/E93

45° spiral flute taps, HSSE-PM steel with back-tapered thread. Highly effective chip evacuation, suitable for tapping deep blind holes up to 3xD, in both vertical and horizontal applications. The chip flow direction is opposite to the tool feed direction.

For use with compensated tapping (CO). Available in the following finishes: right (BR), vaporized (VAP), and TiN-G, the latter from the s-plus series.

E94/E95

45° spiral flute taps, HSSE-PM steel with back-tapered thread. Highly effective chip evacuation, suitable for tapping deep blind holes up to 3xD, in both vertical and horizontal applications. The chip flow direction is opposite to the tool feed direction.

For use with synchro-rigid chucks. Also available with E-form chamfer (1.5 × P) and in versions with or without through-coolant.

P2SC T - P3SC T

P2SC T

Thread rolling taps without lubrication grooves, tolerances 6HX, for blind and through holes. Based on the principle of plastic deformation, they produce no chips and generate a very strong thread. Recommended low thickness sheet metal, soft materials with high deformation, and light aluminium and copper alloys. In general, these taps are suitable for materials with a tensile strength Rm < 850 N/mm² and a minimum elongation coefficient of 10%. The torque is 1.5–2 times higher than that of metal cutting taps.

P3SC T

Like the previous P2SC but with 6GX tolerance, therefore for applications where subsequent galvanizing treatment is expected, or similar, which require a higher tolerance than 6HX.
P2CC T - P3CC T

P2CC T

Roll taps with coolant grooves for blind and through holes, tolerances 6HX, 2BX, ISO22X. Based on the principle of plastic deformation, they do not produce chips and create highly durable threads. Recommended for steel, stainless steel, aluminium alloys with Si content <10%, and copper. Generally suitable for medium-strength materials, with an elongation coefficient above 10% and a tensile strength Rm <850 N/mm². The required torque is 1.5–2 times higher compared to cutting taps. The coolant grooves facilitate lubricant flow, ensuring improved lubrication and heat dissipation.

P3CC T

Like the previous P2CC but with 6GX tolerance, therefore for applications where subsequent galvanizing treatment is expected, or similar, which require a higher tolerance than 6HX.
P2CC AHI - P2CC LH-T

P2CC AHI • P2CC LH-T

Roll taps with coolant grooves for blind and through holes, tolerance 6HX. Based on the principle of plastic deformation, they do not produce chips and generate highly durable threads. Recommended for steel, stainless steel, aluminum alloys with Si content < 10%, and copper. Generally suitable for medium-strength materials with an elongation coefficient above 10% and
tensile strength Rm < 850 N/mm². The required torque is 1.5–2 times higher compared to cutting taps. The coolant grooves facilitate lubricant flow, ensuring improved lubrication and heat dissipation. Available with next-generation AHI coating and also in left-hand thread (LH) versions.

UFS currently has around one hundred employees, collaborators and agents. A family that has (proudly) grown little by little.

There are 3 operational locations.
In Site 1, in addition to the offices, the production of standard tools and special products that require customized processes is located.
A well-equipped Research and Development laboratory is located in Site 2 where controls of the metallographic processes also take place throughout the product development cycle.
The ovens for plasma coatings (PVD) are also located in this plant.
In Site 3, also intended for the reception of raw materials, the roughed are made;
The lathes and hardening and tempering ovens are also located here.
