TAPS FOR HARDENED AND HIGH-STRENGTH STEELS UP TO 52 HRC
The UFS technical brochure is dedicated to families of taps for high-resistance and hardened steels from 45 to 52 HRC, designed to ensure maximum precision, process stability and reliability when machining materials subjected to high mechanical loads.
A practical resource that brings together the most high-performing solutions for tapping high-strength and hardened steels up to 1800 N/mm², in which torsional strength, chip control and tool life are key elements for process stability. The range includes straight flute taps, spiral point taps for through holes, and 15° and 40° spiral flute taps for blind holes, also available in versions with internal coolant supply FOR, ideal for improving chip evacuation and ensuring greater stability in CNC machining operations.
Manufactured in PM1 and PM3 powdered metallurgy steel, with high-hardness coatings such as TXC and AHI, these threading tools ensure high wear resistance, reduced risk of chipping and reliable performance on high-strength steels, hardened steels and special alloys up to 52 HRC. Available in DIN 371, DIN 374 and DIN 376 executions, with 6HX tolerance, they guarantee dimensional accuracy and production continuity in industrial processes.
Thanks to the QR codes included in the technical tables, users can quickly access the UFS B2B portal to check availability, consult detailed technical data and identify alternative or complementary solutions.
A professional tool for tackling the threading of high-resistance materials with efficiency, process security and the full technical expertise of UFS in industrial tapping applications.
K20/K21 TXC
Straight flute machine taps, PM3 sintered steel, TXC coating. For blind and through holes, for high-strength steels up to 45 HRC, aluminium castings Si > 10%, short-chipping brass and bronze, and fiber-reinforced plastics.
XT20 AHI
Multi-edge straight flute machine taps, PM1 sintered steel, AHI coating. This tool family is designed for materials with hardness up to 52 HRC. For low threading depths up to 1.5xD, suitable for both blind and through holes. Reinforced shank according to factory standards does not allow passage through the threaded hole.
K24/K25 TXC
High-strength spiral point taps, PM3 sintered steel, TXC coating. Suitable for through holes up to 3xD only. Chip breaking is consistent with feed direction; suitable for machining medium-high strength alloy steels (Rm < 1400 N/mm²), cast iron, and high-silicon aluminium.
K40/K41 TXC • K40/K41 FOR-TXC
15° right-hand helix taps for blind holes, PM3 sintered steel, TXC coating. The helix promotes chip evacuation in the opposite direction to the tool feed. For applications on medium-high strength materials, vertical threading low deep and horizontal threading. Also available in a version with center hole (FOR), which ensures optimal lubrication during machining.
K80/K81 TXC • K80/K81 FOR-TXC
40° helical taps for blind holes, PM3 sintered steel, TXC coating. For applications on high-strength steels Rm ≤ 1200 N/mm².
The chip is evacuated in the opposite direction to the tool feed; back tapered (BT) facilitates evacuation, preventing chipping on the last threads of the tap and reducing torque when the tap reverses direction. Also available in a version with internal lubrication and FOR front outlet; facilitates chip evacuation and improves cooling in the cutting zone.
